The International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners begins on August 23, to commemorate the massive international outcry for the freedom of our anarchist comrades Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, who were executed on August 23, 1927, by the state of Massachusetts following a trial marred by irregularities and bias rooted in
conservative and nationalist values.
Solidarity is absolutely essential to confront the massive repressive prison system—from financial support to emotional solidarity. Activating solidarity means building bridges across the walls through effective communication, demonstrating that we continue to wage the same struggles together.
This year, upon learning of the delicate state of health of our subversive comrade Juan Aliste Vega, we wanted to dedicate this event to him with affection and defiance. To that end, we invite you to join us for spaces of gathering, exchange, discussion, and solidarity this Saturday, August 29, at noon at Flora Espacio Anarquista.
We’ll have some screenings, a discussion, readings of texts and statements, the opportunity to write letters, and a solidarity collection box for Juan Aliste. We’ll gather around a shared communal snack, during which we’ll also present the Solidarity Fair for Juan Aliste project, which will be featured at the Valparaíso Anarchist Film Festival.
