Solidarity International

Anti-repression groups from different parts of the world create a solidarity network

Levels of repression against anarchists and other anti-authoritarians has been high for many years. In many parts of the world alongside the growth of fascist tendencies more and more people end up in prison in the struggles for just and equal societies. As internationalists we believe that support for those under state repression is not an exclusive responsibility of local anarchist and anti-authoritarian groups. On the other hand we can spread and deepen our resistance to repression on a international level, creating stronger networks of solidarity and a shared analysis of the states repressive apparatuses.

For this reason we’ve decided to create Solidarity International -a network of anarchist and anti-authoritarian support groups from different parts of the planet. Through connection and cooperation with each other we strive to learn how the state reacts to different struggles, adapts to them and represses those fighting against centralized power. We believe that our cooperation can and will strengthen our movements on the local level, and help different groups and collectives get support required from the international anti-authoritarian community.

Currently members of the network are present in North America and Europe, however we are eager to expand, so if your group would like to join the network feel free to write us an email at contact@solidarity.international and we can discuss the details.
Currently we can communicate in english, swedish, belarusian, russian, german, spanish and kurdish.

List of open groups joining the network:

Anarchist Black Cross Belarus (ABC-Belarus)

… supports repressed, arrested and imprisoned anarchists as well as social activists whose ideas and activities do not contradict the ideas of anarchism. The group supports activists in various forms, ranging from paying lawyers and other legal fees to supporting the families and loved ones of the repressed.

We are not a charitable or human rights foundation and provide support primarily based on our political views and goals.      Anarchist activists are often ignored by liberal human rights organizations, and repression is considered justified because of the violation of the laws of a country governed by dictatorship and police lawlessness. That is why it was important for us to create an activist organization that would be dedicated to supporting comrades regardless of any external political factors.

The group in its current form was founded in 2009 and has since become one of the main solidarity structures in Belarus. There are      no paid positions in the group, and all work is done on a voluntary basis by anarchist activists.
We are not an open political group, so you can’t join us by  choice, but you can always raise money or organize support groups for certain comrades in your area, without the need for direct membership. We are happy to help you if you would like to do this kind of work.

The ABC collective does not accept donations tied to any political conditions restricting our own actions. We do not write      grants to obtain money, and the bulk of our funding comes through individual and collective donations. Money that comes to the ABC is used directly for various forms of support, most of which we cannot describe openly because of the high level of government repression.

Not a single day in the existence of the collective has passed without anarchists or antifascists being held in Belarusian      prisons. Solidarity allows comrades to continue to resist repression even in the most difficult moments of life. This is why we consider it extremely important to develop the infrastructure of the ABC not only in Belarus, but also in other countries, in order to create a truly international movement of solidarity.

Blue Ridge Anarchist Black Cross

… is a collective of anarchists in southern Appalachia (so-called Asheville, NC, USA) who believe that jails and prisons, rather than offering a solution to the harms people commit against themselves and their communities, instead make social problems worse. We are a prison abolitionist organization, which is to say we are part of a wider movement working towards an end of incarceration and the creation of alternative, transformative forms of justice in our society.

BRABC is committed to offering support to prison rebels,  anarchist prisoners, and other political prisoners and prisoners of war in the US.

We believe in supporting those who fight for collective liberation against all forms of institutional oppression. We are also working to raise funds to support folks on the outside who suffer repression for political actions they take part in. Finally, we are looking to support decarceration efforts in our community.

Bristol Anarchist Black Cross

… is a prisoner support group based in Bristol, in the west country of England. We offer material, emotional and financial support to prisoners both nationally and internationally. Through our actions we aim to build bridges between inside and outside and center the needs of the prisoner at all times.

We are strong advocates for the abolition of prisons in all it’s forms as well as the white supremacist, capitalist society that prisons prop up. We see prisoner support as an intrinsically political activity that should be central to any      wider struggle against the state.

Philadelphia Anarchist Black Cross

... reformed in August of 2017 honoring the legacy of the former Anarchist Black Cross chapter in unceded Lenape territory known as Philadelphia. We support social movement political prisoners and prisoners of war from across Turtle Island and beyond the Atlantic. We currently host and administer the website prisonersolidarity.com, a years-long project that aims to be most accurate and updated global prisoner listing. Within our locale we host letter-writing events, distribute printed materials inside and outside the PA DOC, and work alongside the greater Philadelphia movement to free political prisoners.

We also host Running Down the Walls―a non-competitive and accessible 5K to raise awareness and funds for the ABCF Warchest program that sends monthly stipends to various political prisoners with little or lacking financial support. Many incarcerated comrades participate by running inside prison. This event brings us closer together, strengthens our bond, and lets people behind bars know they are not forgotten!
